This is an aerially-dispensed antipersonnel (fragmentation) submunition. There is a variation of the SD-1 designated SD-1 (FRZ), and is a French mortar projectile utilized by the Germans as a submunition. There are several differences between the two in size, fuzing, filling, color and markings.
