Type 56 (HE Mortar Bomb)
The Type 56 (its presumed designation) is a 160 mm high explosive fragmentation (HE-frag) mortar bomb. The Type 56 is essentially a clone of the Russian 53-F-853A (53-Ф-853А) cast iron-bodied 160 mm mortar bomb. The Type 56 is presumed to have been produced for use with China's Type 56 160 mm mortar, a clone of the Russian M-160 Model 1949 (160-мм дивизионный миномет М-160 обр. 1949 г.) model.
