Type 53 (Smoke Mortar Bomb)
The Type 53 is a Chinese 82 mm, white phosphorous (WP) based, point detonating (PD) nose-fuzed, bursting smoke mortar bomb. The Type 53 smoke was developed for use with the Chinese Type 53 82 mm mortar, which is a clone of the Russian Model 1937 82 mm battalion mortar (82BM-37). The Type 53 smoke mortar bomb appears to be a clone/copy of, or closely based on, the Russian 53-D-832DU (53-Д-832ДУ).
