The Type 53 is a Chinese 82 mm, powder train time (PTT) nose-fuzed, parachute flare-based, illumination mortar bomb. The Type 53 was developed for use with the Chinese Type 53 82 mm mortar, which is a clone of the Russian Model 1937 82 mm battalion mortar (82BM-37).
