Type 63 AP
The Type 63 is a copy of the obsolete Italian AUS 50-5. The fuze can be initiated by a pressure plate or a tripwire. Japanese operational stocks of AP mines have been destroyed. When initiation occurs, a propellant charge is ignited at the base of the mine, launching it upwards. When the mine reaches a height of 0.5m, a pyrotechnic delay detonates the main charge. Upon detonation, 858 steel balls are scattered in all directions.
