The MAPED F1 is a 'Claymore' type directional fragmentation AP mine. Recently in service with the French Armed Forces and other armies, current status is unknown. It can be detonated by a remote control electronic initiator, breakwire electronic initiator, or a pressure initiator. Upon detonation, 500 steel fragments are projected in a horizontal arc by the main charge to an effective range of 40m.
