The M8 and M8A1 are practice devices used to simulate the M2 Series of APBF mines. The M8 mine uses a cardboard projectile containing a spotting charge whereas the M8A1 uses smoke pellets to indicate activation. The practice mines are typically used with the M10, M10A or M10A2 fuze assemblies. Practice mine. These mines are used for training in the laying and disarming of the M2 series mines.
