The M453 is a Portuguese copy of the Italian SB-81. This mine is believed to be service with the Portuguese Armed Forces. The mine is pressure actuated but incorporates a blast resistant fuze. This means the mine is highly resistant to all forms of shock. The mine is waterproof, maintenance free for up to 10 years and can function either way up.
