The C4A1 is a practice version of the Canadian C3A1 and C3A2 (ELSIE) AP mines. The mine produces blue smoke when actuated. The C4A1 is emplaced in a similar manner to its live counterparts and uses a similar fuzing mechanism; but using a blunt firing pin and percussion cap detonator.
