The M576 is a 40 mm (40×46SR) multiple projectile (MP) cartridge fired from the M79 and M203 low-velocity (LV) 40 mm grenade launchers. The M576 projectile contains 20 hardened-lead 0.24" (6.1 mm) diameter pellets (№ 4 buckshot), each weighing ≈1.2 g (18.5 grains), which are held in a polyethylene sabot.
