The Number 79 (No. 79) are a series of long-delay, chemical, tail fuzes, 'Pistols' in UK nomenclature, for use with aerial bombs. At least two Marks are known of, the Mark 1 (Mk. 1) and Mark 2 (Mk. 2), their UK full designations 'Pistol, Bomb, Tail, No. 79, Mk. 1' and 'Pistol, Bomb, Tail, No. 73, Mk. 2'. Each Mark has seven variants (79, 79A, 79B, 79C, 79D, 79E and 79F), which differ in their nominal time delay (0.5 hr, 1 hr, 6 hr, 12 h, 36...
