The M56 is a super-sensitive, spin-armed, non-delay, nose fuze that is used with 37 mm high explosive (HE) cannon projectiles. The M56 is used with the M54 rounds for the M1 series of anti-aircraft guns, along with the M4 (AN-M4), M9 (AN-M9) and M10 aircraft cannons.
