L.Zt.Z. 17Bm
This a mechanical, clockwork-delay fuze. The designation "L.Zt.Z." stands for "Langzeitzunder" or long-delay time fuze. The L.Zt.Z. 17Bm was used as a backup fuze in the V-1 "Buzz Bomb" to destroy the weapon in the event that the primary and secondary impact fuzes failed. The 17Bm is armed upon launch, and a variable time delay of 5 to 20 minutes is initiated upon impact of the V-1.
