This is an aerial burst bomb fuze, with time delays of 12, 41, or 58 seconds. The fuze can be found with a red-painted, or unpainted, body. This fuze is used in antipersonnel and incendiary bomb containers. The designation "El. Zt. Z." stands for "Elektrischerzeitzunder" or electrical time fuze. There are several variants of the 59 series fuze as indicated by the markings on the fuze head. These include: 59A and 59B.
