On August 23, 2017, insurgents detonated a roadside bomb when six soldiers passed by on patrol after escorting teachers to school. The incident occurred on Ban Sarong-Ban Laewae Road in Tambon Khaotoom's Moo 3 village in Yarang District, Pattani. No troops were injured.
