Seven civilians, including two young children, were killed by a car bomb that exploded at a security checkpoint in the Sinai Peninsula on Monday (July 24). The military said it intercepted the vehicle at a checkpoint near the city of Arish and tried to contain the expected blast by running over the car with a tank. No group claimed responsibility for the attack. It was observed from security footage that the bomber stopped at the checkpoint and fled before a tank attempted to dampen the effect of the blast by driving on top of the suspected automobile.
