On 7th January 2017, a community member stepped on a landmine while he was working together with some friends on jhum34 cultivation in a nearby forest close to Pikhyang Village. He suffered serious injuries to both of his legs, requiring surgery and a blood transfusion. He was taken to hospital over the border in Bangladesh and released almost three months later after recovering from an operation on both his legs. The man can no longer walk
