On 24 October 2019, seven militants of the MILF were wounded when an IED planted by suspected BIFF militants detonated in Barangay Dasawao, Shariff Saydona Mustapha, Maguindanao. The MILF had been helping the military in chasing BIFF militants and had just overrun a BIFF camp in the area hours earlier. The MILF recently began decommissioning its weapons as part of the 2014 peace plan. In recent years, they have assisted the military in fighting Islamist groups in the region.
