Five aid workers from that Somali Red Crescent died after a massive truck bomb exploded in Mogadishu, followed by another, smaller, bomb. An additional thirteen aid workers (3 volunteers, 7 staff members, and 3 security guards) were wounded in the attack. Over 300 hundred people are reported to have been killed with scores more still missing. Although no credit has been taken for the attack, Al-Shabaab is widely reported as being the only group with the means to execute such an attack. This was the largest terrorist attack that Somalia has experienced in its history.
