Dispenser & Submunition. Attack to the Colombian Army from ELN The Eln's armed strike begins with two attacks in Cesar The guerrillas detonated explosives on the roads of that department. The authorities turn on the alerts for the criminal wave that would last until next Tuesday. The beginning of the ELN armed strike was scheduled for this Saturday and, apparently, that guerrilla chose Cesar to confirm the intention of advancing a criminal wave in its areas of influence. In the early hours of the day, after the announced zero hour, they carried out two attacks against the infrastructure of the coastal department. According to information from the Army , the first attack took place in the early morning in the village of La Mara, in the municipality of Pelaya. There, the guerrillas would have detonated an explosive charge on the Yellow Bridge, which ended up partially disabling the structure. A few hours later, around 6 in the morning, the second attack was registered. In the Boquerón sector, in the municipality of Curumaní, the guerrillas apparently stopped a truck and detonated an explosive device that affected the road. The Army investigations indicate that the Camilo Torres Restrepo front, from the Eln's Captain Francisco Bossio Company, was responsible for these violent acts. Meanwhile, the uniformed soldiers were deployed in the two affected sectors, to protect Invías officials who are evaluating the scale of the damage caused by the explosions. Last Wednesday, the guerrillas announced an armed strike that would start this Saturday and extend until next Tuesday, amid uncertainty about the future of the peace talks held by the Eln and the Government in Quito, and which remained in limbo after several terrorist actions carried out by the group, especially on the coast, where 7 policemen died two weeks ago in the middle of a series of explosions in different parts of northern Colombia. The armed organization justified its decision to begin the armed strike "because of the government's refusal to give continuity to the Fifth Cycle of talks in Quito." In a statement, the guerrillas expanded on details of the decision. "Complying with the order of the ELN superior command, in Chocó and western Colombia, the armed strike will be effective and the orientation to all units is that it be carried out on the roads and rivers, as well as on the sea and air routes" . These attacks are added to the terrorist escalation that began after the end of the bilateral ceasefire agreed between the parties in negotiation, on January 10, and that motivated President Juan Manuel Santos to freeze the talks. Beyond the political background of the attacks, the Public Force is on alert in the territory to contain the criminal wave of the elenos.
