One soldier killed and one rifle seized in attack on military column that came out to loot food supplies from displaced civilians in Wetlet

Yangon, November 6

A responsible official from Shwebo District Battalion No. 2 told Yangon Khit Thit News that an attack was carried out against a terrorist military column that had come out to loot food supplies from displaced civilians in Wetlet Township, Sagaing Region, resulting in the death of one soldier and the seizure of one firearm.

At about 8:00 p.m. on November 4, soldiers from the military's fixed-position camp in Hanlin village, Wetlet Township, came out in search of food supplies and to loot displacement shelters. During this movement, they encountered the security patrol unit of Shwebo District Battalion No. 2 (People's Servant Revolution - Wetlet), resulting in a clash.

During the clash, one soldier from the terrorist military side was killed and one MA-3 rifle was seized. After carrying out the attack, the revolutionary fighters were able to withdraw without casualties.

A responsible official from Shwebo District Battalion No. 2 said:

"At present, they did not capture any civilians. Before they reached the displacement shelters, they encountered us and fighting broke out. During the fighting, one military dog was killed and we obtained one rifle. In the past, those military dogs used to arrest civilians and force them to go shopping for them."

Revolutionary groups have urged civilians living near the terrorist military's fixed-position camp not to assist the military in any way and to remain especially alert to the dangers of artillery fire and air attacks.

A local source said:

"Whenever the military dogs in Hanlin village run short of food, they go out looking for supplies from nearby villages and displaced people. On the 4th, while they were out searching for food, they encountered a revolutionary patrol and a clash occurred. One military dog was killed and one weapon was captured."

Hanlin village is an ancient Pyu city that is listed as a World Heritage Site. Because the terrorist military has maintained a base there since October 21, 2022, more than 10,000 local residents have long been displaced.

Hanlin village is a large settlement with more than 2,000 households, 16 monasteries, and a population of more than ten thousand people. It is also reported that the terrorist military has occupied positions on ancient structures and frequently shells nearby villages with artillery.
