CDM health worker says bombing of hospital in Hlyawpyu Kone village threatens and destroys the entire healthcare sector
Sagaing, November 5
Kawlin Revolution (KR) announced today (November 5) that the terrorist military bombed the hospital in Hlyawpyu Kone village, Kawlin Township, Sagaing Region, which civilians depended upon, at around 7:00 p.m. yesterday (November 4), despite there being no fighting.
Kawlin Revolution (KR) stated that as a result of this airstrike, five healthcare workers, including Dr. Zar Ni Tun (aka Pwar Gyi), were killed instantly at the scene. Likewise, civilians who were receiving medical treatment were also injured, KR further reported.
A local resistance fighter said: "The way these people are so vile, they only go around bombing hospitals, monasteries, and schools. What can I say? There is no limit to how vile they are. They have gone beyond all bounds. The fact that healthcare workers have also been lost, I do not even want to say anything."
Supporters of the terrorist military have been stating that an NUG hospital in Hlyawpyu Kone was successfully bombed by aircraft and that one doctor was killed.
A healthcare worker said: "Under the Geneva Conventions and international humanitarian law, hospitals, clinics, and healthcare workers are protected entities that must not be targeted in any type of conflict. Bombing a civilian hospital that is providing healthcare to the public from the air in this manner constitutes an open violation of international laws of war and is a war crime committed against humanity. As a result of this attack, not only have people lost their lives, homes, and property, but healthcare workers who were struggling to save injured civilians also lost their lives. It is extremely shocking and deeply saddening. Because this amounts to threatening and destroying the entire healthcare sector, I would like to call on the international community to strongly condemn such acts of terrorism and to take effective action as quickly as possible."
The National Unity Government's Human Rights Department stated that from February 1, 2021 through October 31, 2026, there were 6,653 airstrike incidents across Myanmar and a total of 15,327 individual air attacks.
Ko Saw (Myanmar Lawyers Council) said: "Bombing hospitals and schools is already a well-established war crime with strong evidence. It constitutes prima facie evidence that is already sufficient at the initial stage, and because the military is the only entity in Myanmar that possesses aircraft, it is an undeniable war crime. However, because the parliament and government currently in Myanmar have no desire to prevent the military's actions, responsibility for these war crimes must be considered to rest not only with the Min Aung Hlaing government but also with the parliament. Politically speaking, those who have seized Myanmar's legislative, executive, and judicial powers, together with their subordinate military forces, regard the people as enemies and are openly violating prohibitions under international laws of war by unjustly bombing and killing civilians and attacking schools and hospitals as military targets. These acts will not simply disappear. I want it to be clearly understood that, in the future, there will be responsibility, accountability, and punishment."
Similarly, the Human Rights Department stated that airstrikes have caused 6,467 deaths, including 853 children under the age of 18 among those killed.
At the time of writing this report, Red Peacock News Media had sent an email inquiry to the Myanmar National Human Rights Commission, which operates under the terrorist military, but had not received any response.
