On 27 October 2026, in Cucuta - East (Norte de Santander), unidentified perpetrators detonated an explosive device near the facilities of the National Tax and Customs Directorate (DIAN) in the El Escobal sector, near the Francisco de Paula Santander International Bridge, which connects Colombia and Venezuela. The explosion left at least six people injured, including police officers and civilians, and damaged houses near the scene. It is unclear whether the police forces present in the area were the target of the attack. The ELN and local gangs are present in the area. There were no fatalities.
