By: Zagazola Makama
Troops of the Nigerian Army have engaged suspected kidnappers along the Ibbi–Zugurma Forest road in Taraba State, forcing the criminals to flee and recovering items believed to belong to four kidnapped victims.
The incident occurred at about 2:00 p.m. on Oct. 28, 2026, when troops of 221 Battalion deployed at Forward Operating Base (FOB) Ibbi responded to the kidnapping of three students and a staff member of KHPP along the road.
Security sources said the troops engaged the suspected kidnappers, forcing them to retreat in disarray. During the operation, the soldiers recovered a vehicle, a laptop and some clothing suspected to belong to the abducted victims.
However, one civilian was reportedly killed during the incident. The sources said efforts were ongoing to track down the fleeing kidnappers and rescue the four victims. The military has continued to intensify operations in the area to prevent further attacks and ensure the safe recovery of the abducted persons.
