On October 27, 2026, Security Forces (SFs) recovered two tiffin Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), ammunition and other materials from a Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) dump in the Dumanpara-Jongeras Forest area under Kukanar Police Station limits in Sukma District, Chhattisgarh, based on information provided by surrendered Maoists, reports ETV Bharat. The recovery was made during an area-domination and search operation conducted by a joint team comprising the District Force, District Reserve Guard (DRG) and Bastar Fighters. According to Sukma Police, the cache contained 14 live .315-bore cartridges, 14 gelatin rods and 80 non-electric detonators. Personnel also recovered approximately 30 metres of Cordex wire, 15 metres of safety fuse and 100 metres of electric wire. Other seized materials included seven large and seven small Barrel Grenade Launcher (BGL) cartridges, wireless-set batteries, communication equipment, chargers, BGL cell nipples, magazine pouches, uniforms and a blue plastic container. Additional items were also recovered, with authorities reporting a total of 23 categories of material. Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Manoj Tirkey said search and area-domination operations were continuing to locate concealed weapons, ammunition and explosives in forest areas. The operation aimed to reduce potential threats by recovering and securing dangerous materials. The recovery follows other recent discoveries of Maoist dumps in the Bastar region. On September 6, caches were reportedly recovered in Sukma and Kondagaon Districts, while another dump containing detonators and tiffin bombs was found in Kanker District on August 25.
