IED event in Madaripur, Alinagar Union, Kalkini Sub-District area, Bangladesh on Thu 22nd October 2026

On October 22, a man identified as Taizul Sardar, 24, was killed and at least five others were injured in a clash triggered by an attack by four assailants in front of a tea stall at Kaliganj Bazar in Alinagar Union of Kalkini Upazila (Sub-District) of Madaripur District, reports The Daily Star.  Sardar was among the attackers. Jahangir Alam, Additional Superintendent of Police (crime and investigation) in Madaripur, stated that four people, including Taizul, arrived at the tea stall on an auto-rickshaw. They were wearing black burqas and pink hijabs and detonated crude bombs. The four then attacked two brothers, Jahir and Mohasin, who were sitting at the tea stall, with sharp weapons, leaving them injured. A clash subsequently broke out between the attackers and the brothers’ associates. Three people, including Taizul, sustained injuries from sharp weapons, while the other three attackers (identities not revealed) fled the scene.
