On October 16, Jubo Dal activist, linked with Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), named Tarek Hossain was shot dead in Sitakunda Upazila (Sub-District) of Chittagong District, over control of a scrap business, reports Prothom Alo. Mohammad Emon, who was with Tarek, was shot and injured. Police claimed that Chittagong North District Chhatra Dal Joint General Secretary Arif Hossain, linked with BNP, led the murder. Along with Arif, four of his associates Fakhrul Islam, Abdul Mannan, Ariful Islam and Mohammad Iftekhar, were arrested in an operation at various places in Sitakunda on October 17, 2026. An LG, a revolver and a pistol used in the murder were recovered from the arrested persons.
