On October 11, an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) with the Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) staff posted in Ferozepur, Iqbal Singh, was shot dead by unidentified assailants on Lauhka Road in Tarn Taran District, reports The Tribune. He was returning home after duty when armed assailants intercepted him and opened fire at around 6 p.m., killing him on the spot. Police said the identity of the attackers and the motive behind the killing were yet to be ascertained.
