Military continues advancing toward Kyindwe with artillery and air support; fierce fighting ongoing, and wounded soldiers transported to Laung Shet Hospital
Yangon, October 29
The military has continued advancing toward Kyindwe Town in Kanpetlet Township, Chin State, using artillery and air support, resulting in intense fighting, and wounded soldiers are being transported to Laung Shet Town, a source from the Yaw region told the Khit Thit Media news agency.
Starting at about 8:00 a.m. today, October 29, artillery support was provided every half hour from KaPaSa 25, based in Laung Shet Town, toward the Laung Shet-Kyindwe road section. Along with this artillery support, junta troops temporarily stationed at Maw Chaung and Hlaing Dot (Old) along the Laung Shet-Kyindwe road have continued advancing toward Hlaing Dot (New) on the road leading up to Kyindwe, it is reported.
As a result of this military advance, firefights broke out with Chin revolutionary allied forces. After the junta forces suffered significant losses, a Yak-130 jet fighter that took off from the air force base in Magway carried out one bombing attack on Hlaing Dot Village at 3:29 p.m. on October 29, according to reports.
A Yaw-region source told Khit Thit Media:
"They are reinforcing the junta troops in Laung Shet and transporting them by vehicle to frontline positions at night. Fighting occurs almost daily. Wounded junta troops from the front lines are transported to Laung Shet Hospital during the night. Some arrived at Laung Shet Hospital today as well. The exact number is unknown."
It is understood that since September 26, junta troops based in Laung Shet Town, Saw Township, have launched an offensive toward Kyindwe Town along the Laung Shet-Kyindwe road with a force of 500 personnel. Although the fighting has continued for more than one month, they have only reached Hlaing Dot (Old) and are continuing their offensive after reinforcing their troop strength.
During this period of more than a month, junta forces reportedly suffered heavy casualties, with some personnel captured as prisoners of war and others deserting the military. Whenever troop strength declined, additional soldiers were sent via Magway to Laung Shet Town to reinforce the offensive.
On October 26 (the Thadingyut Full Moon Day), more than 200 troops, together with drones, weapons, and ammunition, were transported from Magway to KaPaSa 25 in Laung Shet using 14 military vehicles via the Minbu-Pwintbyu-Salin road section, marking the third such reinforcement. The following morning, October 27, two additional supply trucks from KaPaSa 25 joined the convoy, bringing the total to 16 vehicles that transported supplies and personnel to Laung Shet Town, according to reports.
Kyindwe Town, in Kanpetlet Township, was captured by people's revolutionary forces on April 29, 2024, and remains under their control to this day.
