North Korea fired a missile toward the sea off its east coast on October 29, South Korea's Joint Chiefs of Staff said.

The Japanese Coast Guard said that the launched object was possibly a ballistic missile and that it fell into the sea.

According to the Yonhap News Agency, Japan's Ministry of Defense also stated that it had detected North Korea launching a weapon that was possibly a ballistic missile.

North Korea had also launched ballistic missiles on October 12, during a period of heightened military tensions after South Korean soldiers were injured by a landmine explosion at the border last month.

North Korea has already conducted more than 10 missile tests this year alone.
