AA says it attacked a naval vessel group stationed at the mouth of the Kaladan River, damaging 3 warships and sinking 2; fighting remains intense in Sittwe Township, and AA fully controls Ngapyi Kyun

In Rakhine State, the Arakan Army (AA) conducted a naval operation on the night of the Thadingyut Full Moon Day, October 26, against a group of naval warships of the terrorist military stationed at the mouth of the Kaladan River, resulting in damage to three warships and the complete sinking of two vessels, according to AA spokesperson Khaing Thukha.

Khaing Thukha stated that the Arakan Army carried out a naval operation on the Thadingyut Full Moon night against Myanmar military naval vessels stationed at the mouth of the Kaladan River between Sittwe and Wira Thani, clearing and attacking them.

He said that during the operation, three Myanmar Navy warships were damaged; two were completely sunk, while the remaining vessel sustained severe damage.

Khaing Thukha also said that he wished to honor and congratulate all the technicians, officers, and soldiers of the Arakan Army who successfully carried out the operation.

“The Arakan Army carried out a naval operation on the terrorist Myanmar military's naval warships stationed at the mouth of the Kaladan River between Sittwe and Wira Thani on the night of the recent Thadingyut Full Moon Day. In that incident, three terrorist Myanmar Navy warships were damaged. Two warships were completely sunk. The remaining one was severely damaged. At the same time, I would also like to honor and congratulate all of the technicians, officers, and soldiers of our Arakan Army who successfully accomplished this operation,” said Khaing Thukha.

Similarly, Khaing Thukha said that fierce fighting continues within Sittwe Township and in areas connected to the vicinity of Sittwe.

Khaing Thukha said that the terrorist Myanmar fascist military is defending itself inside Sittwe by using innocent civilians trapped within the city as human shields and hostages, and that it is also destroying bomb shelters that civilians dug for their own safety.

He also said that such actions constitute the systematic and deliberate preparation for the killing of civilians and amount to crimes against humanity.

In addition, Khaing Thukha said that although the terrorist Myanmar military had made intense attempts in recent days to land on and establish a foothold on Ngapyi Kyun, the island remains firmly under AA control.

He added that he had no further details to provide regarding Ngapyi Kyun or other matters related to military security.
