19th October 2026
On 19 October 2026, suspected SAF drones struck several areas, including the fuel depot at Amieth Market, 10 kilometres north of Abyei Town, in the disputed Abyei area. Uncorroborated sources claimed the target may have been the RSF, suggesting the market is a hub of RSF activity. At least 226 people were killed during the strikes, with 153 being buried in 1 grave and 73 in another, while 19 others were injured. A tractor-trailer carrying around 26 people was also hit, but the exact location was unclear. At least 8,000 people were displaced. Most of the victims were traders from Sudan and South Sudan, while foreigners from Ethiopia, Somalia and Uganda were also affected. 1 source claimed the fuel area was hit 7 times, while another claimed 1 of the drones hit UNISFA offices and destroyed several vehicles.
