On 20 October 2026, the Nigerien military (Op. Damissa) carried out drone and helicopter strikes against positions of ISSP militants (locally known as Lakurawa) who had come from Nigeria, near Dioundou, also spelled Dioundiou (Dioundiou, Dioundiou, Dosso), close to the borders with Nigeria and Benin. An unspecified number of militants were neutralized (meaning killed), coded as 3. The Ground forces were later deployed for a sweep operation in the area, which continued through midweek. Motorcycles, weapons, and communication equipment were burned and destroyed.
