According to a military source, the Arakan Army (AA) seized the bodies of military junta soldiers, weapons and ammunition, and prisoners during fighting on the mountain-crossing road between Taungup Township in Rakhine State and Pandaung Township in Bago Region.

A military source said that at noon on October 24, the military advanced with a column of about 150 troops through Layla Taung toward Nyaung Kyoe Village, which is under the control of the Arakan Army, and fierce fighting broke out between the two sides.

“They launched an offensive toward Nyaung Kyoe, which is controlled by the AA. The fighting between the two sides took place between Layla Taung and Nyaung Kyoe.”

He continued that after fighting for about one hour starting at around 2:00 p.m., the AA captured more than 10 military bodies, around 20 weapons and munitions, and no fewer than six prisoners from the military side.

“We obtained SAC bodies, weapons and ammunition, and prisoners. The fighting is continuing. The SAC side is providing air support.”

It is reported that, due to the heavy casualties suffered by the military junta forces during the fighting, they retreated toward Layla Taung, but the AA continued pursuing and attacking them, so the fighting has continued up to today.

The military source said that while the fighting remains intense around Nyaung Kyoe Village and the surrounding area, the military is providing fire support from the Sin Lam village camp using artillery as well as jet aircraft and Y-12 aircraft.
