A civilian shot dead by the military while it was patrolling in Tap Kone Village, Pauk Township

According to Ko Zaw Gyi of the Pauk Township Anyar Myay Resistance Group, soldiers and Pyu Saw Htee militia members patrolling in Tap Kone Village in southern Pauk Township, Magway Region, shot and killed 31-year-old Ko Htun Min Naing, a resident of Pyit Hte Village.

At around 4:00 p.m. on October 23, while Pyu Saw Htee members and soldiers from Tap Kone Village were conducting a patrol, they shot Ko Htun Min Naing, a resident of Pyit Hte Village. It is reported that he died at the scene.

Ko Zaw Gyi said that during the incident, the soldiers and Pyu Saw Htee members did not burn houses or arrest civilians, but only shot and killed Ko Htun Min Naing while conducting the patrol.

“While Pyu Saw Htee members and soldiers from Tap Kone Village were patrolling, they shot and killed a 31-year-old man named Ko Htun Min Naing from Pyit Hte Village. The junta soldiers did not burn any houses. They also did not arrest any civilians. They simply shot and killed him without reason while patrolling. It is understood that they shot and killed him after noticing him observing their patrol,” said Ko Zaw Gyi of the Pauk Township Anyar Myay Resistance Group.

He further said that after the shooting, the soldiers and Pyu Saw Htee members withdrew back toward Tap Kone Village.

“After shooting and killing a civilian, the junta troops and Pyu Saw Htee members withdrew back toward Tap Kone Village,” Ko Zaw Gyi said.

Local residents report that the terrorist military is currently conducting military offensives within Pauk Township and, under the pretext of area-clearance operations, is entering villages inhabited by civilians and carrying out shootings, looting, killings, and arrests.
