More than 10 houses destroyed and one civilian injured due to an airstrike in Mindat

According to local residents, an aerial bombing attack by the military on Mindat town in Chin State destroyed more than 10 houses, including a religious building, and also injured a woman.

Two jet fighter aircraft that took off from the Magway Air Base dropped eight 300-pound bombs at around 10:00 a.m. on October 24 near the Kanpetlet road junction in the Western Ward of Mindat town.

"They indiscriminately dropped bombs even though there was nothing in the town. A religious building and more than 10 houses were damaged. One woman was also injured," a resident of Mindat told Shwe Phee Myay.

As a result of the bombing attack, a woman named Daw Khin Yi who was inside a construction compound was struck by bomb fragments and sustained non-life-threatening injuries. She is currently receiving medical treatment at a nearby clinic.

Fighting on the ground continues to intensify within Mindat Township, and while the military side is reportedly suffering losses, it has continued carrying out aerial bombing attacks on towns and villages where civilians are present.

"Ever since the fighting began on the ground, they have continuously carried out bombing attacks. Because of these airstrikes, people are suffering losses of life, homes, and property almost every day," another local resident told Shwe Phee Myay.

On October 23, the military also dropped more than 30 bombs near Mindat town using three fighter aircraft and Y-12 bomber aircraft.

It is reported that that airstrike caused damage.

In addition, on October 22, six aircraft carried out aerial bombing attacks on areas around Mile 9 and Mile 10 to the west of Mindat town.
