A 2-year-old child killed and his father injured in a junta airstrike in Hpapun

In Karen State, Hpapun District (Mutraw District), the military junta carried out an aerial bombing attack on Mae Nu Hta Village in Butho Township during the early morning of October 25, causing a 2-year-old child to be killed and the child's father to be injured.

At present, the father, Saw Phar Kalar, is receiving medical treatment because he was injured.

In addition, four civilian houses and one church in the village were also hit and damaged.

"In the early morning, while people were asleep, an aircraft came and dropped bombs. As there was no fighting at all and the bombing directly targeted the village, an innocent child lost their life and houses were also destroyed," a local resident said.

The military junta had also carried out an aerial bombing attack a week earlier on Nar Ko Hta Village in the same area, causing damage to a school, a monastery, and civilian houses.

At present, within Mutraw District, including Hpapun Township, administration, territorial control, and security operations are fully controlled and administered by Karen National Union (KNU) and Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) Brigade 5.

After losing control of the territory, the military junta has continued to conduct aerial bombing attacks against villages inhabited by civilian populations that are not involved in military activities.
