By: Zagazola Makama
Troops of the Nigerian Army have discovered and safely detonated two improvised explosive devices (IEDs) planted by suspected terrorists along the Pulka-Firgi Road in Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State.
Security sources told Zagazola Makama that the devices were discovered at about 9:30 a.m. on Oct. 21 by troops of 192 Battalion (Motorised), under 26 Task Force Brigade, deployed at the Forward Operating Base (FOB) Pulka.
The troops subsequently deployed an Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team, which safely detonated the devices in situ to prevent possible casualties and damage.
The discovery highlights the continuing threat posed by improvised explosive devices along roads in the North-East, as troops sustain efforts to detect and neutralise explosive threats targeting security personnel and civilians.
