Five civilians killed near Kyunhla Township by terrorist military airstrike

Sagaing, October 24

The terrorist military carried out airstrikes on two villages in Kanbalu Township, Sagaing Region, on yesterday afternoon (October 23), despite there being no fighting, according to a statement released by the Kyunhla–Kanbalu Activists Group (Kanbalu District).

The villages that were subjected to the airstrike were Htan Taw Village and Chaung Thar Village. According to the group, the dead were five members of a family, and four other people were injured.

The deceased were identified as Daw Pyar (46), Ko Kyaw Win Aung (40), Ma Thida Win (32), Maung Lin Htet Aung (30), and Ko Si (26), all from Htan Taw Village.

At about 7 p.m. that same day, the terrorist military also bombed Chaung Thar Village, killing two cattle.

According to the Kyunhla–Kanbalu Activists Group (Kanbalu District), most villages in Kanbalu Township are concerned about the danger of airstrikes and, because it is also the season for hill-farm work, many residents are living together with family members and relatives in large temporary huts erected near their farm plots.

Following that airstrike, at around 7 p.m., the terrorist military carried out another bombing attack on Chaung Thar Village, resulting in the death of two cattle, the Kyunhla–Kanbalu Activists Group (Kanbalu District) further reported.

Because the terrorist military is attacking civilian populations, religious buildings, hospitals and clinics as military targets, the Kyunhla–Kanbalu Activists Group (Kanbalu District) urged people, especially during the Thadingyut period when meritorious and charitable activities are being conducted, to maintain awareness of airstrike risks and to exercise caution when gathering in crowds.
