Two sheriff’s deputies were injured and the suspect was killed in a shooting during a domestic disturbance call in North Carolina, according to authorities. The deputies were taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Deputies responded at about 9:30 p.m. on Monday to a reported domestic disturbance at 6784 Kimesville Road in Liberty, according to the Guilford County Sheriff’s Office.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene from an apparent gunshot wound, the sheriff’s office said. The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) identified him as 46-year-old Jeremy Dean Wood.

Both deputies were transported to a local hospital. Authorities have not specified the nature of their injuries or said whether either deputy was struck by gunfire.

Officials have also not described the sequence of events leading to the shooting. The sheriff’s office said relatives of both deputies and the man who died have been notified.

The SBI is leading the investigation at the sheriff’s office’s request, with assistance from local detectives.
