Fighting breaks out between military council forces and RCSS in Hsihseng; both sides reinforce their troops
Mi Yoe, 23 October, Hsihseng
In Hsihseng Township in southern Shan State, fierce fighting broke out yesterday, 22 October, from around 12 noon between military council forces and the Shan forces (RCSS/SSA).
The fighting occurred near Zawgyi Dam, about 22 miles from Hsihseng Town, around the junction where the main Kyaukgu–Intaw road branches off toward Kengkham.
It is reported that gunfire continued continuously until after 5 p.m.
People close to the RCSS said that the fighting occurred because the military had reinforced its troops and advanced into the area without prior notification.
“The military reinforced its troops and approached the area where we are, so intense gunfire broke out. If the military was going to advance, it should have informed us in advance. Now both the military council forces and our RCSS force have reinforced their troops,” said a man close to the RCSS.
The conditions regarding casualties and deaths resulting from the fighting are still being investigated.
In the Kyaukgu area of Hsihseng Township, in December 2024, military council artillery, air, and drone attacks killed one local resident and injured another.
