Military Council bombs and destroys Konlaw Myothit Bridge in Bhamo

Myat Nyo, 23 October

Local residents said that the Konlaw Myothit Bridge, located between Myitkyina and Bhamo in Kachin State, was bombed and destroyed by military council forces this morning, 23 October.

“The military council has destroyed both the suspension bridge and the large new bridge with airstrikes. The new bridge was also hit. The old bridge has completely collapsed,” a local man said.

The bombing was carried out at around 10:00 a.m. on 23 October by military council forces using a Y-12 aircraft.

Another local man also said:

“This morning they came by aircraft and bombed and destroyed the Myothit Bridge. It was around 10 a.m.”

He added that intense fighting is currently taking place throughout Bhamo town.

The Myothit Bridge that was destroyed by the military council is one of the main bridges used for transportation and travel in the area, and local residents are expected to face difficulties as a result of its destruction.
