On 5 October 2021, in Thanlyin township (Yangon-South district, Yangon region), there was an explosion at the Thilawa special economic zone development road junction. The Thanlyin PDF reported that they did the bombing ahead of the coup leader Min Aung Hlaing's trip and 1 soldier died on the spot from the blast and another one died later at hospital.
