Projectile event in Lawng Hkang area, Myanmar on Wed 21st October 2026

In Kachin State's Hpakant Township, after an artillery shell landed on a grocery store below Lone Khin Hospital Hill this morning, 21 October, a civilian passer-by was also wounded after being shot by the military, according to local residents.

At around 3:00 a.m., an artillery shell landed on a grocery store located near a position occupied by the military junta below Lone Khin Hospital Hill, injuring one civilian.

A local resident said:

"It is not known who fired the artillery shell. The military is stationed on Lone Khin Hospital Hill. There is a grocery store below that hospital hill. There is also a restaurant there. It landed on a two-storey grocery store. They said the grocery store had moved its goods. People are saying that eight civilians were hit, but the exact details are not yet known."

After the artillery shell exploded at the grocery store, it is understood that a woman who sold vegetables while travelling around Lone Khin by motorcycle was shot and suffered a gunshot wound to the waist.

Another local resident said:

"She was a woman who went around Lone Khin selling vegetables on a motorcycle. Shortly after the artillery explosion, while she was frightened and rushing home, the military side opened fire because it was still dawn. It was the military personnel positioned on the roads around Lone Khin and Maw Si Zar who fired. There have been warning shots fired to scare away other vendors from coming. She did not realise this and sped away, so they shot at her."

In addition, it is understood that yesterday a man was robbed in front of the Myanma Han fuel station in Maw Si Zar Village, and 5 million kyat was taken.

Military junta forces, local militia forces, and the Wara Zup militia are stationed inside the Super Green Company compound located near that Myanma Han fuel station.
