Yangon, October 19
The People's Defence Force Headquarters has announced that near Ma-U Kone Village in Indaw Township, Katha District, Sagaing Region, military council forces arrested two civilian residents, tortured them, shot them dead at close range, and dumped their bodies by the roadside.
At 11:20 a.m. today, October 19, two civilians travelling by motorcycle from the direction of Nyaung Kone Village in Indaw Township reportedly passed beyond territory controlled by the People's Defence Force and allied forces and mistakenly arrived near Ma-U Kone Village, where terrorist military council troops were positioned.
The two civilians who mistakenly arrived there were reportedly two young men about 23 years old. Military council soldiers arrested them, tied their hands behind their backs, forced them to lie face down on the ground, and repeatedly beat and tortured them with rifle butts. After the beatings and torture, they were shot dead at close range and their bodies were abandoned by the roadside.
In addition, another man approximately over 50 years old was reportedly tied with his hands behind his back, beaten and tortured by the terrorist soldiers, and then taken away toward Laybin Village.
The People's Defence Force Headquarters urged members of the public travelling on roads to investigate route conditions in advance and to pay particular attention to and follow security warnings issued for the relevant areas in order to avoid becoming victims of such inhumane war crimes committed by the terrorist military.
It is reported that, although young people forcibly recruited as porters for the power and personal interests of military generals are being sent to the front lines and military columns continue to advance into areas controlled by resistance forces, large numbers of military council personnel continue to be killed.
It was further stated that the military council forces, having suffered heavy losses, are continuing to openly commit war crimes in the customary manner of the terrorist military by targeting, oppressing, and killing innocent civilians who have no connection whatsoever to the fighting.
The statement added that there is great sorrow and grief for the civilian victims who were unjustly arrested, tortured, and killed by the terrorist military, and that the People's Defence Force and allied organisations are intensifying offensive operations to deliver justice for people across the country who are facing similar forms of oppression.
The People's Defence Force (Headquarters) also stated that operational information will continue to be released at an appropriate time.
