12 people, including a 7-month-old infant, killed in airstrikes in Yesagyo

Myrro, 17 October, Yesagyo

It has been reported that 12 local residents, including a 7-month-old infant, were killed after junta forces carried out bombing attacks using fighter jets, an Mi-35 helicopter, and drones on Thigyitaw and Pitshin Kat villages in Yesagyo Township, Magway Region.

At around 2:00 p.m. on 16 October, the military first attacked Thitkauk Seik Village using two suicide drones. Later in the afternoon, it carried out bombing attacks on Thigyitaw and Pitshin Kat villages using one Mi-35 helicopter and two fighter jets.

Local residents said that rockets were also used in the attacks.

A local resident said:

“Of the dead, only seven bodies could be recovered in a recognisable condition. The others were struck by bomb fragments and their bodies were torn apart.”

The airstrikes were carried out despite there being no fighting between the two sides. A total of 12 people were killed, including 11 from Thigyitaw Village and 1 from Pitshin Kat Village.

Among the dead were a 7‑month‑old infant, a 10‑year‑old child, five adult men, and five adult women.

The bombing attacks also damaged at least four houses in the villages. Residents of Thigyitaw, Wakkataw, Pitshin Kat, and Thitkauk Seik villages were reportedly fleeing to safer locations.
