The Myanmar military conducted a series of pre-dawn aerial bombardments in Kyauktaw Township, located in the Arakan region, local sources reported on October 20, 2026.

According to residents, the strikes began at approximately 3:00 AM today. Local reports indicate that multiple aircraft, including a Y-12 transport plane and at least one fighter jet, circled the area for an extended period before dropping ordnance.

"So far, I have heard bombs being dropped six times," a local resident told Narinjara News. "Because of the intense noise, it is not yet clear exactly where they landed. I can currently hear a Y-12 circling, and a jet is also circling and dropping ordnance."

The first explosions were recorded at 3:03 AM and 3:08 AM, with subsequent rounds of bombing continuing well before daylight. Details regarding casualties or the extent of infrastructural damage remain unavailable at this time due to ongoing security challenges and restricted access to the area.

The pre-dawn assault follows a devastating airstrike on September 28, when military forces targeted the 'Indian Market' in Kyauktaw, resulting in the deaths of 50 civilians and injuring nearly 60 others.

In a separate development, reports emerged that the towns of Gwa and Kyeintali in southern Rakhine State were also targeted by military aircraft last night at approximately 10:30 PM.
