20th October 2026
In southern Kyauktaw Township, Rakhine State, the surrounding mountain ranges near Infantry Battalion No. 377 (AmaTa-377), a military junta battalion, and Kyeintali town in Gwa Township were attacked from the air with nearly 30 bombs dropped using six jet fighter aircraft and one Y-12 aircraft during the night of October 19 and the morning of October 20, according to local residents from the respective townships.
Starting at 3:00 a.m. on October 20, the bombing attack was carried out for nearly one hour using jet fighters and six Y-12 aircraft, and local residents have been living in fear and anxiety as a result, according to a male resident from the Kyauktaw area.
“At around 3:00 this morning, a group of aircraft including jet fighters and Y-12s came and dropped bombs. It wasn't very far from our village. At night, the sound of the explosions was extremely loud, so everyone woke up in terror and shock. The children were trembling. First, the jet fighters dropped bombs continuously. Finally, a Y-12 circled and dropped more bombs. Around 30 bombs were dropped. Since the targets were military-related locations, we don't know about any damage. But local people are spending every day in fear and anxiety, unable to sleep peacefully at night.”
