In Ayeyarwady Region, Tha Baung Township, at the Tha Baung-Kyetsun Kwin checkpoint, a stabbing incident occurred between soldiers of the military junta, resulting in the death of one soldier, according to people close to the matter.

On the night of 18 October, two junta soldiers of private rank who were on security duty at the Tha Baung-Kyetsun Kwin checkpoint got into an argument and fight with each other, which led to a stabbing incident. One of the soldiers sustained multiple injuries and died.

A person close to the checkpoint said, “One of them died immediately. It was a fight between soldiers. It is understood that they argued over the changing of guard duty shifts, and one of them stabbed the other with a knife.”

It is understood that the body of the deceased soldier was taken away by junta soldiers and disposed of, and that the incident was concealed in coordination with the junta's military intelligence unit.

In addition, it is understood that responsible officials instructed lower-ranking soldiers not to allow information about the incident to leak out and not to let any information that could affect the relevant department be disclosed externally.
