On 3 October 2021, 2 grenades fired by unidentified assailants using a grenade launcher exploded at the Bicol University campus in Legazpi City (Albay, Bicol Region). No one was hurt, though a part of the campus was lightly damaged. The motive for the attack was unclear, though it happened while police were on red alert in view of the 2022 elections candidacy filing period from 1-8 October. The university campus is right in front of the police regional office.
